Helpful Apps for Dental Professionals

Smartphones and tablets have made a big difference in the way we live our day-to-day life. But did you know that your mobile devices can also benefit you in the dental world? There are tons of applications (or "apps") are to help you and your patients. 

Here are some of the most useful apps for dentists! Epocrates by Epocrates Rx is a free app that gives dentists and endodontists access to a large clinical reference library. Users have access to things like a robust Drug Guide (complete with an interaction checker) and formulary information. 


The app also comes in an updated version (Epocrates Basics) for an annual fee of $ 159.99. This version includes additional information on diagnostic information and tests, insurance codes and alternative healing methods.


But regardless of which version you choose, the users receive free updates and medical news app. Epocrates Epocrates Rx is the site for iOS, Android and Blackberry version. DDS GP is an award-winning app from a company called Kick Your Apps, and is designed to help you provide information and diagnoses for patients. The app comes with a library of over 200 lectures on topics of caries and cracks to gum disease. 

One of the biggest App features is how you can customize the experience for each patient. The app allows you to upload your own photos and then mark on it by your finger, so you can point out specific parts to patients or colleagues. You can also use your consultations with patients by printing schedules, or send them via e-mail. 

DDS GP costs $ 399.99 on Apple's App Store and works with both the iPhone and iPad. iRomexis coming from Planmeca and serves as a convenient way of testing and sharing of 2D and 3D images of Planmeca X-ray systems. The iRomexis app makes it easy to display images for patient consultation and cooperation with other dentists. 

The app works in conjunction with the Planmeca Romexis desktop software and instant access to rich, detailed images to help you with your patients. If your practice already used Planmeca products, you should check out the app! 

iRomexis is free for iOS devices. You can download it in the App Store. Lexi-Dental Complete, from Lexicomp offers subscription-based access to a robust collection of databases for dental information so you can make faster diagnoses and treatment methods out easier. The app includes over 1,000 color photos and over 5,000 color images, while the databases will give you information about drug / herb / food interactions, oral hard and soft tissue diseases, a manual endodontic access and much more. 

One caveat though: Each subscription right will only work on a device, so that buyers should consider before buying. However, subscribers have access to all new databases introduced during their subscription .......
