Ayurveda - The Dynamics of Life-Force

Ayurveda, the science of life, is the natural healing system of India, their traditional medicine goes back to ancient times. The same great Vedic seers and sages who produced India's original systems of yoga and meditation founded Ayurveda as well.

Ayurveda originated as part of the Vedic science, an integral spiritual science, which provides a comprehensive understanding of the whole universe of matter, mind and consciousness. Vedic Science includes yoga, meditation, mantra and astrology, Ayurveda and sets as a special branch for the healing of body and mind. On this broad and deep background includes Ayurvedic medicine, dietetics, body, surgery, psychology and spirituality.

Ayurveda is the healing gift to us from the ancient enlightened Vedic culture. According to astronomical records in ancient Vedic texts, was the Vedic system, including Ayurveda, in practice before 4000 BC when the vernal equinox in the stars of Gemini and the now dry Sarasvati River has been the largest river in India. Ayurvedic healing wisdom reflects this ancient culture, the Sarasvati was one of the great cradles of civilization in the world.

Ayurveda has gone through several stages of development in its long history. It spread east along the Indian culture in Indonesia and Indochina, and on the west by the Greeks, who developed a similar form of natural medicine. Buddhists many new insights into Ayurveda and took it along with their religion to many different countries. Ayurveda was the basis of the healing traditions of Tibet, Sri Lanka and Burma and also influenced Chinese medicine, many great Buddhist sages, such as Nagarjuna, perhaps the most important figure in the Buddhist tradition of the Buddha, were ayurvedic doctors and authors. Ayurveda is thus a rich tradition, adaptable to many different times, cultures and climates.

Today Ayurveda, yet at a different stage of development, is aimed at addressing the western world and modern conditions. Ayurveda is part of a new movement towards a global medicine that includes the best of all medicines in the country. A new natural planetary medicine arises largely through an examination of the traditional medicine of indigenous peoples around the world.

Ayurveda is probably the best place in the synthesis of such a global medicine. It contains perhaps the widest range of healing methods. It has much of the language of alchemy, which was a global medical and spiritual traditions in ancient times. The medicine of India has many similarities with older Chinese and European traditions, and can serve as a point of integration between them. The medicine needed to heal the planet and usher in a new age of world unity is already included in this, perhaps the oldest of all healing methods.
