Chinese Acupuncture for Low Back Pain

Chinese acupuncture for back pain involves the insertion of small needles into the skin to reduce or eliminate pain and improve mobility in the lumbar region of the spine. Chinese acupuncture is often used to take care of problems like muscle strain and sciatica. Chinese acupuncturists rely on channels known as meridians that serve as channels for the flow of energy throughout the body.

Acupuncturists identify twelve main meridians and several smaller ones. Along these meridians are hundreds of acupuncture points. Acupuncture practitioners believe that the energy of the body flows very close to the surface of the skin at these locations.

An acupuncture session begins with a consultation in which the acupuncturist treats the patient's history and created a plan that is tailored to the needs of the patient. For pain in the lower back, this usually involves the placement of acupuncture needles along the meridians of the lumbar spine. But needles in other parts of the body like the ears are laid. During the procedure, the patient is conveniently positioned on the table and the skin is cleaned and sterilized.

The acupuncturist then carefully adds several needles into the skin. The acupuncturist may also connect a device as electrical nerve stimulation, which sends pulses known small controlled by the needles. This can increase pain and make the meeting more effective.

The acupuncturist goal is to create the right balance in the body of energy. Acupuncture is a safe method of care that will be useful to patients with low back pain. Most patients will benefit from more treatments....
